Getting Started

These are suggested approaches toward the prayer of faith. They are given to show how one can personalize the truths. The statements are meant to lead us into our own thoughts, affections, and resolutions. We gradually will receive our own special insights. One good way to prepare for prayer is by reading Holy Scripture. Every word of God is inspired by the Holy Spirit and can be an act of faith. . . .

Father, You can do all things.

You are able to cure the sick (Mark 1:32-34)
You raise the dead to life (Mark 5:35-43)
You forgive sins (Mark 2:1-17)
You transform sinners into saints (Luke 19:1-10)
You makes creatures out of nothing (Genesis Chs. 1, 2)
You know all things.
You are everywhere.
You are able to draw good even from evil.
You are more present to me than the air which surrounds
my body or the water that encompasses a fish.
I can do all things in you who strengthen
       me. (Philippians 4:13 )

You are the creator of heaven and earth.

The heavens show forth your glory. (Psalms 19)
You made the sky, the sun, moon, and stars.
All the oceans, rivers, lakes, and streams are yours.
All the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky come
      from you.
You formed the mineral world, which we continue
      to explore.
The beautiful plants and flowers you made for us.
Every animal and insect owes its life to you.
Everyone calls you Father, Creator, Source of Life.
The angels cry continuously, Holy, Holy, Holy. (Isaiah 6:3)
