Parish
Retreat for Families At the suggestion of a father of 12, the Society of Mary, in 1970, made property available for family retreats at Cape May Point, NJ. As a result of the spiritual enrichment of families that occurred, the Marianists were convinced to dedicate the property to the mission of family retreats. Since the first retreat, this work has been a collaborative effort of both religious and lay volunteer staff. Families have been asking whether the Marianist family retreat may be brought to their parish. Recently, Marianist Family Ministry teams have been formed to increase the availability of family retreats in parishes. Ministry teams are composed of members of the Marianist Family, lay and religious members, men and women, couples and single adults, as well as teens. This model offers parish communities an experience of collaborative ministry and discipleship of equals. Members of the teams have experienced Marianist Family retreats, and most have been volunteer staff members for those retreats. We can provide personnel to staff a retreat or work with a parish to help it conduct its own retreat.
We offer a full or partial day program and will work with the parish to design a program that best suits its needs. Our fee for the program will be negotiated with the parish. It will include all materials, preparation, meeting, and travel expenses of the staff.
