NACMS Advisors

Since it was authorized by the Marianist Conference in 1989, the NACMS Advisory Group has met with NACMS staff once a year.  Advisors confer with the staff on broad policy issues and interpret, in light of current needs, the original vision of NACMS as set out in our mandate.

We generally gather over a weekend in late winter or early spring in Dayton, Ohio. In addition to exploring the NACMS vision for the future, Advisors review a draft of the Annual Report and draw up a budget based on goals and innovations proposed for the next year; the Annual Report and the budget are submitted to the Marianist Conference.

The publication Things Marianist, our internship program, and the policy that NACMS covers travel costs for programs to allow equal access to NACMS for groups throughout North America are all ideas generated and outlined by the NACMS Advisors.

Advisors are also responsible for conducting a search and making a nomination to the Marianist Conference for the position of NACMS Director.

Members of the Advisory Group who live in proximity to the NACMS office in Dayton meet with staff an additional three or four times a year to assist with more immediate or practical matters which arise.

Every effort is made to include a wide diversity of persons associated with the Marianist Family. Balances are sought according to geographic region and gender, as well as appropriate representation from all the branches of the Marianist Family.
