A graduate of Chaminade high school in Saint Louis, Missouri, Ben earned his BA in Liberal Studies
with a concentration in Mathematics from Maryville University in Saint Louis. After college, Ben entered
the aspirancy program with the Society of Mary, volunteering as a tutor at Villa Angela Saint Joseph high
school in Cleveland, Ohio, while discerning a calling to enter the Society. After a year of growth and
learning, he chose to leave the program and studied classical languages at Washington University in
Saint Louis. In January 2007, Ben began the internship program at NACMS working at the Marianist Center in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Over the course of his two-year internship he did extensive research on Father William Ferree, SM, which culminated in his comprehensive study A Ferree Resource Collection. Ben also
researched Marie Thérèse de Lamourous and wrote a study of her life during the French Revolution,
A Spiritual Crucible. And he translated Antonio Gascón’s Historia general de la Compañía
de María, volume 1. Currently, in addition to his work as the NACMS Research Assistant, Ben serves as a member of the
translation team for the International Organization of Marianist Lay Communities, and is a member of
the Grand Walkers MLC in Dayton, Ohio. He also volunteers at the Marianist Family Retreat Center in
Cape May, New Jersey. He enjoys hiking, bowling, golf, reading, and playing the piano. |
