11/08/2007 "And when you
find yourself in the place just right . . . " Carolyn joined our staff in 1997 after more than ten years of service to the Society of Mary, Cincinnati Province. Her early work with Marianist Vocation Service included supervision of the publication of its magazine, Ventures. She also worked on various Homecoming booklets and programs featuring Marianist jubilarians. For two separate periods of time, she served as editor of the Cincinnati Province newsletter, Family. In her earlier work at Marianist Press, Bros. Bob Hughes and Brian Zampier developed her understanding of the process and technical details of layout and publication. Bro. Joe Mariascalco even had her running a printing press! All this has contributed to her work at NACMS as she shepherds books through typesetting and production. Her first major work was Mlle de Lamourous by Fr. Joseph Stefanelli, SM. This served as an introduction to the long association of Marie Thérèse de Lamourous with William Joseph Chaminade, including her work with the Sodality of Bordeaux and her involvement in the establishment of the Marianist Sisters and the Society of Mary. Another project was the publication of the two volumes of the Letters of Adèle de Batz de Trenquelléon, which gave her a glimpse into the beginnings of the Daughters of Mary. One year she also attended in the novices' Marianist History course to build her knowledge of the development of the Marianist Family. For several years Carolyn was the NACMS "web person" and worked with the University of Dayton Research Institute on the design and publication of the web page. This work has now been passed to Joyce Daniel–a source of thanksgiving for Carolyn! In her away time, Carolyn lives on eight acres in the country with her husband Dave, two dogs and four or five cats. She has four married children and five grandchildren, all boys.
Recently, she has done extensive
work on the four-volume Jalons by Joseph Verrier, SM, and is now
preparing Jean-Baptiste Armbruster's Writings on Faith for
publication. Every project adds a new dimension to her understanding of
Marianist life and mission, and her presence at NACMS seems to be a "place
just right."
