Aug. 13: Blessed Jakob Gapp

Blessed Gapp, SM, was born in 1897 and was beheaded by the Nazis in 1943 for his unshaken defense of the faith. He was beatified on November 24, 1996, by Pope Paul II.

O God,

You gave to Blessed Jakob the grace

To fight strenuously for justice

And to assert, even to death, the truth of the faith.

Through his intercession and example,

Help us also to remain true to your Son and

To the Church by the integrity of our life.

We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, who lives

And reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God

For ever and ever. Amen.
