Tom Redmond, SM, shares a heart-centered approach to mission and ministry for the Marianist charism. Drawing upon the theology of Edward Schillebeeckx, Brother Tom reminds us that the Incarnation is a prolonged, everlasting, and uninterrupted event that invites each of us into an ever-deeper relationship with God and with one another. Mary is our model, and her spiritual maternity guides the Marianist Family today, just as she initially did in Saragossa, Spain. |

Father Tom Schroer, SM, argues in this paper that the mission within the Marianist Family is to bring Jesus, i.e., the Spirit of the Risen Christ, into our world; and our model is the “mature presence” of Mary within the struggling and nascent Christian community at Pentecost. (Two "sample prayers" for Marianists to pray with the mature Mary and original Christian community at Pentecost are included.) |

How did Father Joseph Simler’s twenty-nine-year Generalate complete Blessed William Joseph Chaminade’s foundational vision? How did Simler, the fourth Superior General, also shape the direction of the Society of Mary in an era of increased government control that threatened the very survival of the religious congregation in France at the start of the twentieth century? To find out, read Marianist Father Antonio Gascón Aranda’s second volume of "The General History of the Society of Mary: Generalate of Father Joseph Simler: An International Congregation of Pontifical Right (1873-1905)." |

Father Renny Markose, SM, shares a brief yet powerful examination of Marianist spirituality that provides the reader (and prayer) with the touchstone elements of our faith tradition. His words can serve as a source for enrichment for seasoned Marianists and an excellent starting point for those newer to Marianist spirituality. According to Father Renny, who recently completed the Marianist Specialist Training Program provided by NACMS, “we have numerous Christian spiritualities known by different names, and Marianist spirituality is one among them. What is distinctive about Marianist spirituality? Or what does Marianist spirituality offer that other Christian spiritualities do not have?”

Rose Rucoba, FMI, shares her Marian insight into the parallels between Mary and Elizabeth’s Visitation and a similar supportive experience between two Thérèses (Marie Thérèse de Lamourous and Thérèse Rondeau, two women who ran houses for repentant sex workers in nineteenth-century France). Both experiences—Mary and Elizabeth’s interactions, as well as the two Thérèses—draw upon the power of love and sisterhood in times of need. |
